How do I care for my soap and balms?

Because we don’t use any artificial hardeners in our bars of soap, they are naturally softer than what you might be used to from supermarket soaps. Therefore, store your soap on a well-draining soap tray (not a dish where water might collect) so that your bar of soap can remain hard between each wash. Also remember to keep it out of direct sunlight and below 25 degrees Celsius as heat and sunlight will reduce the nice smells, colours, and shelf life of your soap.

Also remember to store your body balms out of direct sunlight and below 25 degrees Celsius as heat and sunlight may spoil the natural oils.


Why is there a 'use before' date on your products?

Our products use natural ingredients, which, naturally, have a life span. We don’t use preservatives to extend the shelf life, so in just the same way that you would use your olive oil before it’s expiry date, make sure to use your natural Capensis products before they expire.


What do you use to add scents to your products?

We use only pure organic essential oils in our products. We never use artificial fragrances (besides the fact that they’re not natural, artificial fragrances smell terrible!).

We do currently have two soaps that don’t use any essential oils for those who prefer an unscented soap – the Coffee Scrub and the Honey Honey Honey bars. Our two lip balms also do not contain any essential oils.


Can I use your products while I'm pregnant?

As with all things during pregnancy, please check with your care provider before using any of our products. All of our ingredients are listed on our website and on our packaging.

Although our organic essential oils are natural and the amounts that we use them in our products are within the safe guidelines, we believe in honest transparency and like to educate our customers. Essential oils have not been proven safe to use during pregnancy, so please consult with a medical practitioner before using our products.


Do you accept returns?

Due to the personal nature of our products we do not accept returns. 


How much does shipping cost?

Shipping within Cape Town costs R50 and shipping to the rest of South Africa costs R65. If you would like to place an international order with us, please do send us an email and we will send you a shipping quote.
